Count Your Blessings

As I sit here at almost 10pm at night, I hear the vacuum droning away upstairs. This means Sophie is sleeping soundly. Sarah is sleeping as well, hugging her new "Uniqua" doll tight in her arms. For this I am grateful. Not because the house is beautifully silent and still, but because the two loves of my life are happy and healthy and safely tucked away upstairs. (My third love is on his way home from work)

With life being so crazy at times I know we often forget how blessed we are. After trying for so long to have a baby, then going to China for Sarah, and then "surprise" here's Sophie, I should be ashamed that I don’t count my blessings more than I do. I have always been extremely annoyed when family and friends that had children complained about their lives when we were trying everything we could to have a baby. I especially loved (sarcastically) when I heard the quote " You have no idea how hard it is". Duh-of course we don't- we can't have kids you idiot!!! Have you not been paying attention??

I always thought that they should count themselves lucky rather than whine. Fast forward 3 years later, and I am the very person I used to despise! Ugh. I am trying not to be, but somedays are harder than others. There are so many families out there who lose children for various reasons that it makes me extremely sad, because at any minute those families could be our family, and that would be unbearable.

So, my goal going forward is to try to keep things in perspective, to treasure every moment, and to be grateful for everything and everyone that I have. Please feel free to remind me of this if/when I start to whine!!

Reason #1 For Kids to Avoid Alcohol

Chris and I had a relaxing evening dining "al fresco" on Sunday. Sarah and Sophie joined us for dinner, but not drinks..or so we thought. Sarah must have taken a sneaky sip (or twelve) of the Reisling cuz she starting dancing and gyrating like a crazy woman out at a disco.

Would you like a straw to go with that shake, ma'm??

It's the End of the World as We Know It

Crazy hail here in Warwick, NY at 2:30 pm on Tuesday. So much for that 60% chance of light rain. After the power failed and I got booted from my client conference call (YES!) I took the following video footage of the patio..............

So, if this is not the Apocalypse I will blog again later.

Sarah Reads Seuss...and Strips

As part of our nightime routine, we often read to Sarah.
Lately, she has taken it upon herself to read to us .
This evening, she read/spelled the cover to both Sophie and I..........and then flashed us.

Sophie's Baptism

Sophie Grace was Baptised on Sunday May 18, 2008 at St. Stephen's Church.
Although the day started out a rainy mess, the skies eventually cleared and the sun was able to peak through. About 40 family and friends joined us to celebrate her special day, and Godmother Patricia and Godfather Tommy were there with us beside the Baptismal fount as Sophie became "official". She looked like an angel in her gown- the same one used by big-sister Sarah two years ago. Both girls had minimal naps that day, but were still so well-behaved. It made us proud.

Mother's Day 2008

This post is extremely delayed due to the fact that there is just not enough time in a day to do everything that needs to be done, plus post to my blog. Ya'll know what I mean...

Anyway, we went to the Hotel Thayer up in West Point for the Mother's Day brunch. Besides me, Chris and the girls, Cheryl and Bob took the ride over to celebrate the day with us as well.

Sophie was not a happy camper- perhaps she doesn't like frou-frou dresses??? She fussed a lot and was itching to get home. Sarah, on the other hand was "muy perfecto". Couldn't have asked for better. Not an exciting post I know, but that was the day in a nutshell.

Against My Better Judgement...

I bough Sarah light-up Disney character sneakers!!! I usually would never buy something like that for her- but she was so thrilled, I just had too.

We went shopping for shoes for me, and somehow bought for her (please note- I did not even get a shoelace!)

She walked over, picked them out, found her size, and put them on herself. She has such a grin on that I could not say no.

Here is a look-see at the new shoes.

Anyway, I am trying to get a babysitter for tomorrow for the girls so I can get out again to go shoe shopping.

Boring update, I know- but two posts in 24 hours is pretty impressive!!!

Some Pictures to Pass the Time

I am finding myself lacking witty commentary this evening. With all the illnesses last week, my exhaustion is getting the better of me. I have decided to post a few pics to fill some space and meet my weekly blogging quota. Enjoy!!
