Chickpeas Graduation 2008

Five more little chickpeas are all grown up and off to kindergarten next year. Today was the graduation ceremony and luncheon at Sarah's daycare/school. Even though Sarah has been going here for 2 years or so, I had never went to one of the ceremonies, simply because Sarah wasn't graduating, so I didn't see the point. Well, after seeing the production Theresa put on today, I can say that I was wrong. First off, these kids are just so darn cute....all decked out in their purple and gold caps and gowns. All the class participated in the festivities and did songs and dances for the families. I took lots of video, but due to the size of them, I will only post these two here to the blog.

This one could be a public service announcement:

This is the "Hamster Dance" as performed by Virginia, Sarah and Alizah.

Cute, right?? Anyhow it was a great day and I know that before you can say "Pickles and Pickcheas" Sarah will be wearing that same purple and gold and walking down the aisle for her Chickpeas graduation. Crap, I am starting to cry!

Oh- Also in attendance was Chris and Sophie. Here is a picture of the stunning pair...

Lastly, all the kids get an award from Theresa in acknowledgement of their accomplishments. Sarah was awarded "Most Improved Student for Making Great Strides in Development". Yeah Sarah...you rock girl!! Mommy and Daddy and Sofa (her nickname for Sophie) are very proud of you!

Even though today was the last day of the "official" school year, Sarah will be back at Theresa's on July 7 for the summer session.

That about wraps up my post for this evening. Nighty- night all..............................

Pictures & The Big Apple Circus

The Manasier's had a busy Saturday this past weekend. The morning started off with a photo session with Tina, our resident pho-tog. Previews of the day can be seen at http://www.lifeisahighwayphotography.blogspot.com/ under the "Sister Sister" title.

We (okay ME..... Chris didn't care one way or the other) ultimately wanted to get family pics and a few good ones for possible Christmas cards, but what we wound up with is still to be determined. Sarah, while smart, funny and beautiful- can also be an absolute diva and terror. She was not feeling the photography vibe too much and really made Tina earn her money. Sophie was pretty good until she checked her watch and realized it was bottle and nap time. Like any union laborer would do, she punched her timecard, took her break and was done for the day. By that time there was no more amusing Sarah...the gigantic lollipop has lost its charm and we headed home. Many 'props' to Tina who was a cool as a cucumber while I was stressing about my children's less than perfect behavior.

Later that day, after naps and lunch, we headed to the Big Apple Circus. A great time was had by all. We were a little worried at first because five minutes into the show Sarah said she wanted to go home. I think she was a little overwhelmed with the noise and the clowns. Once she got used to it, she was great. She cheered and clapped and was a perfect angel for 2 hours and 15 minutes. She even went pee-pee on the potty and had zero accidents. Sophie was great too. She did start to lose it about 20 minutes before it ended, so I walked around outside with her until she fell to sleep.

That was our Saturday. No pictures to share now. Sorry.

Oh- and to all my supporters who commented on my last post- THANK YOU. I am happy to announce the strike has been averted!!!

Is There Anyone Out There?

I have noticed lately the lack of comments on my blog. I try to be witty and funny and original and I am getting the feeling my effort is for naught. Say something people.....anything.
"Nice pictures", "funny stuff", "you are a total nutball" - I am itching for anything at this point. Don't make me have my own private writer's strike. My demands are simple.....if I don't get at least 3 comments on this entry by end of day Sunday, I am picking up my picket sign and hitting the sidewalk.

Thanks to my "Friends" below for supporting me in this possible strike.

Sarah's Third 3rd Birthday

So as you already know from reading my blog below, Sarah turned 3 on June 4th. She had a cupcake party at Chickpeas Daycare (Party #1) and a cupcake at home (wouldn’t count that one). Then on Saturday June 7th, Sarah had her Pirate & Pixie Adventure with her friends (Party #2) Since we didn’t really get a chance to celebrate with the families, Sarah had her third (and final) party on Father’s Day June 15th. Manasiers and Burkes gathered at Nana’s house for food and frolicking in the sprinkler (Sarah & Chris- everyone else just watched).

We chowed down on hot dogs and burgers and an assortment of goodies, while Sarah snacked on chips. It was just too hot to battle her over these poor food choices, so I didn’t. It was her birthday after all, her third 3rd birthday- so I gave her a “pass”.

Sarah made out like a bandit. Between the cash, giftcards, snazzy new luchbox, SkippyJon Jones story collection, Elefun Game and a golf and T-ball set, she was ready for her cake. Yummy ice cream cake from Carvel. (Editors Note- Back in the Day, I (Mommy) made many a cake at Carvel. Today, these cakes are airbrushed by computer. How fancy!)

Here are more pictures from that day…………

A Pirate & Pixie Adventure

On Saturday June 7th, Sarah and her friends celebrated her third birthday with a Pirate & Pixie Party. The kids all seemed to have a great time and the day went well-despite the heat and the late arrival of the Fairy Godmother. (scheduling snafu)

Checkout Tina's site for the oh-so professional version of my party pics. Click on Sarah's picture and then, when prompted used the password=Sarah

Happy 3rd Birthday Sarah

Sarah celebrated her third birthday on Wednesday June 4th. To prep for her big day, we baked some cupcakes for school Tuesday night. Actually, it was Sarah who did most of the work. Chris supervised and I took pictures. They came out pretty good and her classmates loved them!

At school, they had a party- they did muscial chairs, hot potato, limbo and made her a birthday crown. Typical stuff for pre-schoolers. When she came home she got to eat yet another cupcake.

Her big party is on Saturday. We should have about 12 kids or so. It's either going to be hot or rainy, or both. Hoping the A/C is pumping that day or we will all be very nasty!

Stay tuned for that post with pictures of all the pirates and pixies!

The Sophmeister has a double ear infection so she is a bit off and cranky. Her top snaggle tooth is peeking through her gums and is making her drooly and wet. (a condition she has been in for the past few months)

Mom stayed here for the past few days to watch Sophie while I worked. She was great to have around for the help, but I think she was thrilled to leave and to be able to sleep back in her own bed without kids. I tried to talk her into staying over this weekend, but she looked at me like I was on crack!!

This is it for now.
